On/Off Control: The most basic application of a 2-position solenoid valve is to provide on/off control of fluid or gas flow. When the solenoid is energized, the valve opens, allowing flow through the system. When the solenoid is de-energized, the valve closes, stopping the flow.
Cylinder Control: In pneumatic or hydraulic systems that use cylinders, a 2-position solenoid valve can be used to control the movement of the cylinder. When the solenoid is energized, the valve directs fluid or gas to one side of the cylinder, causing it to extend. When the solenoid is de-energized, the valve switches positions, directing fluid or gas to the other side of the cylinder, causing it to retract.
Directional Control: 2-position solenoid valves can be used for directional control in systems that require fluid or gas to be directed to different outlets or paths. When the solenoid is energized, the valve opens one outlet or path, allowing flow in that direction. When the solenoid is de-energized, the valve switches positions, closing the previous outlet or path and opening a different one.
